MyVerna Non-Clinical Companion & Post-Surgical Support

Services & Pricing

Three ways we can help.

Prices are published here on purpose. Most agencies make you call to find out what they charge. You should be able to know before you pick up the phone.

Two-hour minimum on hourly visits. Mileage within the service area is included. No contract, no sign-up fee, cancel any time.

The Accompaniment

For surgery, a procedure, or any appointment you shouldn't face alone.

$325

flat rate, up to 6 hours from pickup to settled at home.

  • A phone call beforehand to plan the day
  • We drive you there and wait through the procedure
  • We listen to the discharge instructions with you and write them down
  • We drive you home and get you settled — bed, water, a meal
  • Your medications laid out exactly as the discharge sheet says
  • A check-in call the next day
  • A written note to whoever in your family you choose

The Standing Companion

The same day, the same time, every week. The consistency is the point.

$46 / hour

4-hour minimum per visit, booked weekly.

  • Groceries, pharmacy, errands and returns
  • Rides to appointments, dialysis, the salon, church
  • Meal preparation and light household order
  • Company — conversation, a walk, an outing
  • Spanish and English interpretation when it's needed
  • A written note to your family after every visit

The line we don't cross

What we do, and what we don't.

Verna has a Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences and years of experience at the side of patients. That is exactly why we are clear about where our work ends — and it is the first thing anyone who works under the MyVerna name learns. If your family needs clinical care, we will help you find the right licensed provider — and we will be there alongside them.

What we do

  • Accompany you to appointments, procedures, dialysis and infusions
  • Take you home after surgery and stay through the first hours
  • Listen to the discharge instructions with you, and write them down
  • Groceries, pharmacy pickups, errands, returns, mail and deliveries
  • Meal preparation, dishes, laundry and light household order
  • Company, conversation, walks, church and outings
  • Spanish and English interpretation at appointments and on calls
  • Scheduling, coordination, and a written note to your family after every visit

What we don't do

  • Bathing, toileting, dressing, or physically transferring a person
  • Administering medication of any kind
  • Wound care, injections, catheter or ostomy care
  • Taking vitals, blood glucose, or any clinical measurement
  • Any nursing task, assessment, or medical advice
  • Emergency medical response — in an emergency we call 911 and stay with you

Questions people actually ask.

Will it always be Verna?

Mostly, yes — and when it isn't, it will be someone Verna trained herself, working to her standard. You meet them before they ever arrive on their own. Nobody you haven't met walks through the door.

Can you help in Spanish?

Yes. Spanish and English, both fluent, including at appointments where someone needs to understand exactly what the doctor said. Esta página también está en español.

My mother doesn't think she needs help.

Most of them don't. We don't arrive as caregivers. We arrive as someone who is going to the store anyway and would like the company. The rest follows on its own, or it doesn't, and that's her decision to make.

How do I pay?

After the visit, by card, transfer or check. Adult children who live out of state usually put a card on file and get the invoice by email along with the note.

What if we need more than you offer?

Then we'll say so, and help you find the licensed provider who can. We would rather tell you that on the first phone call than take a job we're not the right people for.

Not sure which one you need?

That's normal. Call and describe the situation — we'll tell you honestly what we think, including if the answer is "not us."
